Welcome

Welcome to the webpage of the "Athens International Master's Programme in Neuroscience"

The purpose of the postgraduate program  «Athens International Master's Programme in Neurosciences» is to provide high quality graduate education at the Master of Sciences (M.Sc.) level in the scientific field of neuroscience.

The postgraduate program of studies leads in the award of a "Postgraduate Specialisation Degree" in Neurosciences (Master in Neurosciences) after full and successful completion of studies based on the curriculum

The "Athens International Master's Programme in Neuoscience" is operated jointly by the:

Department of Biology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Department of Nursing of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Department of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Foundation for Biomedical Research of the Academy of Athens

The National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos"

Hellenic Pasteur Institute

Biomedical Sciences Research Center “Alexander Fleming”

National Hellenic Research Foundation

Eligible candidates and knowledge requirements

The candidates admitted to the Program are graduates of Departments of domestic Universities and Higher Technological/Research Institutes and graduates of recognized equivalent institutions abroad (according to paragraph. 1, Article 4 of Law. 3685/08).

No distinction is made between University Degrees but candidates should have good knowledge of Cell Biology and basic knowledge of Nervous System Physiology.

The students are evaluated through their Biographical Sketch, exams, and interviews. Written exams will be performed in MJune to assess the basic knowledge of students in cell biology and neuronal physiology through multiple choice questions. The exams will take place via an electronic platform on July 3nd . Students will not be required to travel to Athens.

The interviews of selected candidates will take place on July 6th and 7th 2023 via the WEBEX platform.

Applicants who have not been taught the specific subjects must make sure to attend the relevant undergraduate courses and/or online seminars or read relevant books. Students can find free textbooks at: https://open.umn.edu/opentextbooks/subjects/education or https://www.oercommons.org/ or other sources

In addition, knowledge of Molecular Biology, Genetics and Biochemistry is important.

Below, you will find Cell biology and neuronal physiology titles to guide your reading:
