Hellenic Society for Neurosciences

The Hellenic Society for Neuroscience was founded in 1985. Its members are scientists of various disciplines engaged in research on the nervous system. The Society has currently 350 members who work as doctors, biologists, pharmacologists Psychologists etc. in Universities and Hospitals in Greece, the rest of Europe and America . In 1987, the society became a member of the International Molecular Brain Research Organization (IMBRO) and in 1990 became a founding member of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) www.fens.org.
The aims of the Hellenic Society for Neuroscience is :
1. The promotion of education and research on the nervous system in health and disease
2. Raising awareness and educating the public on issues relating to the normal functioning of the nervous system and developments in the pathogenesis and treatment of neurological diseases.

To achieve its purposes of the Hellenic Society for Neuroscience:
1. Organizes international conferences and/or educational workshops in various cities of Greece
2. Gives scholarships to students to attend international neuroscience conferences abroad

3. Student members do not pay membership fees and are also members of IMBRO and FENS. In addition, it grants them free access to the journal European Journal of Neuroscience.
4. Organizes neuroscience awareness events.

5. Co-operates with public benefit foundations (Eugenides Foundation), municipalities, schools and e.t.c., in the organization of neuroscience awareness events.
6. Translates books for the general public
